Considering the rigid stance against natural supplements organized medicine has maintained for centuries, it gives us a warm, squishy feeling to declare, “times-they-are-a-changin'”.  Some of the top orthopedic practitioners are becoming beautifully balanced!  We know this to be true, because a few are recommending glucosamine chrondroitin post-surgery.  Will this be the year of integrative medicine?

They do point out glucosamine chondroitin is not regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration.  In fairness, most note the USDA “tentatively” concurs the supplements, when taken together, “significantly reduce pain in patients with moderate-to-severe osteoarthritis of the knee”.  Shall we take our blessings where we find them?
