While considering healthy foods and fulfilling the needed quantity of nutrients, including required vitamins and minerals every day, it is important that people don’t become so rigid with themselves as to make a good discipline into a tedious and unpleasant experience.  When undertaking a disciplined course of action, it is important that we find ways of rewarding ourselves for maintaining the boundaries of our program.

When we begin working out, for example, we might do some arduous cardiovascular exercise or lift weights.  If we do only those things, these workouts will not be varied enough and in time will cause boredom, if not injury, and loss of commitment.  The way to vary workouts could be finding physical activities that provide good exercise but are fun to do.  Good substitutes might be horseback riding, nature walks or dancing.  These activities can make physical exercise fun and something to look forward to, just like we should look forward to enjoying our meals.  The best tasting meal replacements I’ve found for varying my diet comes in the form of protein shakes that are formulated cellular nutrition promoting optimal nourishment to all cells of the body.  The variable flavors never get boring and boy o’ boy do I look forward to what’s on the menu every time I have one!
